Kay Sammons is Coordinator of Elementary Mathematics for the Howard County Public Schools in Howard County, Maryland. She is responsible for curriculum development and professional development for teachers and administrators. She has been both a classroom teacher and a mathematics resource teacher, and she has served on several committees of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences for NCTM. Ms. Sammons has coauthored several publications for teachers. She was honored as Maryland Teacher of the Year in 1986 and Maryland Educator of the Year in 1995.
